COMMENTS:
This appears to be a Victorian
milk and green art glass Brides bowl,
with handpainted floral decoration. Brides
bowls or baskets were usually one-of-a-kind
novelties made in just about every color
of art glass by American and European
glass factories. Many baskets have silver-plated
stands and handles. They were especially
popular about 1880, when the decorated
basket was often given as a wedding gift.
Cut glass baskets were popular after 1890.
Bride's baskets lost favor about 1905. |
